Insurance starting at $19/month! We’ve got you covered! Car insurance for less!!!!

You’ve heard them all, but it’s more like less car insurance for less. Chances are that the coverage those companies are selling just meet that state minimums and do not include any coverage for your vehicle. But the savings cannot be ignored!

In the state of Georgia, drivers are required to carry liability coverage to drive on public roads. Those limits are $25,000 for bodily injury per person with a limit of $50,000 per accident and $25,000 in property damage. What does this mean for you?

With state minimum coverage, if you cause an accident your insurance company will pay out for any injuries to the passengers of the other vehicles in the accident, but only up to $25,000 per person and $50,000 per accident. Those limits can be exhausted rather quickly too. Medical bills can pile up and exceed your liability limits. What happens then? Those bills then become your responsibility.

What about the state minimum for property damage? $25,000 is the minimum limit to be legal in the state of Georgia. But how much does that really cover?

The most commonly purchased car in 2016 was the Toyota Camry. A nicely equipped 2016 Camry cost starts at $26,310. That means that if you cause an accident and total a new Camry, with state minimum coverage, you would be responsible for at least $1,310 to the other party involved in the accident. You would also be responsible for any damages for your own vehicle, as state minimum coverage does not require any collision coverage.
